Course Description: HVAC 101, presented by EMCOR Services Mesa Energy in partnership with IFMA Silicon Valley, offers a foundational overview of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning systems tailored for facility management professionals. This course introduces participants to the essential components and functions of HVAC systems, including zone controls, terminal devices like VAV and fan coil units, exhaust fans, packaged units, boilers, chillers (air and water-cooled), and cooling towers. Through detailed diagrams and real-world examples, attendees gain a clear understanding of how these systems operate individually and as part of integrated building solutions.
The course also explores applied HVAC systems and automation architecture, highlighting how components work together to deliver efficient climate control in commercial buildings. Participants will learn about building automation technologies such as Distech controls, energy management platforms, and smart room control systems. Whether you're new to HVAC or looking to refresh your knowledge, this session provides practical insights into system design, operation, and maintenance, empowering facility managers to make informed decisions that enhance building performance and occupant comfort.
